More About The Blog

| No Comments | No TrackBacks

Some of you may have noticed yesterday that my blog disappeared for a few hours. I have been running some major errors and they weren't corrected no matter what I did. So ... I decided to reinstall my blog which fixed all but two of the errors.

One of those errors is coming from allowing OpenID on my blog. When I initially set the blog to accept OpenID comments, it worked fine. Then it didn't. I don't know why either. All of a sudden they ran a 403 Error. So, I disabled it. But ... the good news is that CAPTCHA works now so you don't have to login to comment anyways. :)

Then there was the URL issue. When I had inititally installed MT4 ... I did not know that it would automatically change my site URLs. Instead of a file name being something like ... billy_graham_politics it became billy-graham-politics. That made lots of older posts very unhappy. So I changed it and now my newer posts are very unhappy.

I still haven't been able to revert back to the .php extension I used to use for my site files. That makes the majority of my archives non-existent. They are there, they just have the standard .html extension now.

I am also working to put in redirects for any pages that are consistently being viewed (or at least people are attempting to view them). I am also doing that with posts from the last few months so that no one ends up with any dead links. Oh joy.

I also need to go through every last post and the internal trackbacks to ensure that the proper links are in place. I have no clue how long that will take. Double joy.

Site Junk

I think this may be my last post for a minute or two. The blog is running errors and I have some php scripts not behaving very well. I don't know if it is MT4 related or not. The host is checking into it and hopefully everything will be fixed soon.

You don't have to sign-in right now to comment, unless you want to. I am still working on the CAPTCHA thingie so it is not implemented yet either. A chickie of mine went through some major hassles just trying to comment here (and still hasn't been able to) so I am hoping this will fix that.

Hopefully, I will be back tomorrow. :)

Update 10:16 PM: Well, the core dumps have been dealt with. CAPTCHA is now working! They were unrelated, but I finally figured it out. You only have to use the captcha thingie if you don't sign-in to comment. But, now ... all comments are automatically approved. Of course, if that gets abused, I may go back to moderation and only automatically post the comments of those that I trust. :)

I am still running an error on one of my files. I have no idea what the issue is, but I am still working on it. Plus, it doesn't appear to be affecting the blog in any way ... so that is good.

Frustrated!

I have been working on installing CAPTCHA so that if you don't want to sign-in to comment, you won't have to anymore. You can just input the little letters or numbers or whatever they are ... and just be done. I won't have to worry about spam and you won't have to jump thru hoops.

Did it work out? Well, no! I finally got it configured to have it, but then the images didn't actually show up and I don't know why. I can see them when I go directly to them in my browser, you just can't see them on my blog.

Maybe one day ...

I am switching on over to MT4 so be patient while I get everything back onto my sidebars and so on. Thanks!

Check out this review of my blog ...

"I just saw www.therogueangel.com/blog/. The color scheme is without compromise. Magnificent. Another pro: blondesense.blogspot.com put up a link to this page. The URL has 34 characters. This length scores best in usability studies. What a fantastic page! The page contains 235 links, a highly usable amount. It must have taken a decade to perfect the page. Of course, I expected the creator to achieve only the best. If only Microsoft would have a splendid page like that. There are 91,622 characters in the code, which is a cool length for search engine bots. The file is very structured. Supreme. Seeing The Rogue Angel, I'm simply speechless. (...) Magic." -- Fred Hamilton, Site of the Day

LOL! Hat tip to Iki.

Radio.Blog Is Back

| No Comments | No TrackBacks

As many of you know, I took down my Radio.Blog sometime ago due to juke.blog player eating up my bandwidth. Well, the site admin said he could see where it made sense to be able to disable the juke.blog player and now the instructions include directions on how to remove your radio.blog from the radio.blog.club database! And, since I love my Radio.Blog, it is now back. I have it linked over there under Navigation. When you click the link, it will open in a pop-up window for your convenience.

This week I am playing Hymns by Shirley Caesar. Enjoy!

Kinda Cool

David, I can think of more flattering things to be called than a Large Mammal, but I can think of a lot worse too!

It's all good. :)

Site Changes

I have officially returned from hiatus and I am so glad to be back. Many of you have no clue, but I have been sitting here everyday on my blog. I just haven't been blogging. Instead, I have been installing MT 3.2 and tweaking out this template. I have also been going through my entire archives and weeding it out. I went from over 1200+ posts to slightly less than 800. Big difference!

For those of you that had subscribed to my blog, you will need to do so again. The subscription service has now been updated as well so it is much easier to alter your preferences. I apologize for deleting your subscriptions, but honestly, it was for the best. I am sure you did not want a notification each and every time I edited a post or added one to the blog, especially while I was weeding out the archives. :)

I have made a lot of changes on the blog the last month, so take a moment to look around and aquaint yourselves with the setup. The comment pop-up window has been removed. I have taken some pages down completely. Other things have been implemented. If you have any questions, just shoot me off an email.

Hiatus

I am going on hiatus. I have been thinking about doing so for sometime now. I am getting kind of tired of having three different blogs and have been seriously considering combining all my blogs into ONE blog. Maybe this will be what I need to get that done. In the meantime I have moved all my posts into draft form. I will be spending the next few weeks going through them. Many of them will disappear permanently. Others will be reinstated.

See ya when I see ya ...

Update 12/25/05: Merry Christmas!!! I hope you have a joyous day. I am busy enjoying my hiatus. And, when I say "busy" I do mean busy. Oh and just for Becky: I cooked turkey (which was injected with real butter and spices), ham w/pineapple and cherries, chicken and dressing, brocolli and cheese casserole, sweet potato casserole, green beans w/potatoes, fried cabbage, mashed potatoes, corn, giblet gravy, rolls, cranberry sauce (didn't actually cook it), chess pie, pecan pie, and pumpkin pie. Pretty much the same meal that we had at Thanksgiving, minus a few side dishes. And, let me tell you ... it was delicious! The turkey was the best I ever made. I think everything turned out exceptionally well. :)

Belated Birthday Wishes

Yep, that is right. My blog is now two years old as of November 24th. With all the Thanksgiving festivities and cooking ... well, it totally slipped my mind. :)

Blogging has been therapeutic for me in so many ways. It has been an outlet for my love of writing. I have enjoyed documenting my life, my interests, my joys, and pains. I love sharing my thoughts on the things that interest me, the latest news story, politics, and my faith. It has become a passion for me, even if there are times that I do consider giving it up.

I have made some great friends along the way. I knew Donna, :Shylah:, and :David: before I started blogging. The rest of you have popped in and out, some commenting, others emailing, and I have loved getting to know you. I have even enjoyed some of the weird email, comments, and questions that I get at times. :)

I started this blog as a private journal and didn't even have commenting implemented in the beginning. People could read, but they couldn't respond. I wasn't sure I wanted anyone able to just say whatever they wanted to say about my life and my feelings. It was a big step for me when I set up commenting. And, I am glad I did even though there have been times I have been surprised by the audacity of some people.

I never started blogging to make money. I have never implemented ads or any of that other site revenue stuff. I blog because I love to blog. I read blogs because I want to know what is going on in your life too. But, of course, if you want to reward me for two years of doing something that I enjoy ... I do accept large cash donations. ;)

Radio.Blog

| 5 Comments | 2 TrackBacks

I have removed Radio.Blog from my site. I really hated to do it but after my site went down due to excessive bandwidth usage, I figured it would be in my best interest. Especially since I have no interest in paying outrageous charges just so somebody can sit on my site and listen to my music 24 hours a day. It also doesn't help that Radio.Blog allows people to save their favorite tracks and listen to them on their juke.blog player while eating up my bandwidth.

I went from 800+ megs to over 5 gigs in less than two weeks. That ain't even funny.
