These people have lost their collective minds ...

ATF disrupts skinhead plot to assassinate Obama

Federal agents have broken up a plot to assassinate Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama and shoot or decapitate 102 black people in a Tennessee murder spree, the ATF said Monday.

You know, the flyers the "aryan nation" got to passing out about Obama were bad enough. Now they want to kill some black people too. But, killing them isn't enough. No ... they want to decapitate a few of them as well. And, the cherry on top .... kill Obama or die trying.

But, we don't breed stupidity and hate in America ... nooooooo. Not us.

It Is Getting Tight

Oil prices go through the roof. People can't afford to drive like they did before. People stop driving as much. Oil prices fall. Gas becomes more affordable after costing an arm and a leg for some time. So, what happens? OPEC cuts production to try and drive prices back up because ... you know ... they have to make boocoo bucks or they ain't happy. It isn't working though.

Economic crunch has families still holding tight to their money. Christmas is coming and a lot of people don't know what they are going to do. Local programs are getting cut like crazy ... including programs that help with Christmas. Food banks are struggling. People are living without heat. Utilities prices are still too high for many.

I am just waiting for it to be Bill Clinton's fault. It always is. :)

Poor Baby

In Nepal, they have declared that a three year old little girl is their new living goddess. They say she is the incarnation of the Hindu diety Taleju and they decided this by having the child spend the night alone in a room among the heads of ritually slaughtered goats and buffaloes without showing fear.

Read that again ... the heads of ritually slaughtered goats and buffaloes without showing fear. How would they know if she was afraid if she was alone? And, who in the world would leave a three year old baby in a room with dead animal heads?

Not only did she have to go through all that, but they also removed the child from her parents. Now she lives in a temple and will remain there until she starts her period. At that time, she will no longer be a "goddess" anymore and will be returned to her family where the chance of her growing up and getting married are slim because they believe that men who marry former "goddesses" will die at a young age.

And, the horrible cycle will start over again. Once the "goddess" is removed from the temple, they will name a new baby to be their goddess, put her in a room full of dead animal heads and take her away from her family.

VP Debate Conclusions

Well, the polls are in and (at least) according to MSNBC, Biden won 51% to Sarah Palin's 38%. Unfortunately, I did not get to watch the debate live, so I had to read the transcript and catch some clips. But, I definitely agree with MSNBC's analysis that Palin was a bit shaky on questions she had not been prepped for ... or couldn't find in her notes.

Palin was shaky at times on less familiar issues. Not even halfway through the debate, Palin was asked a question about sub-prime mortgages but maneuvered back to the issue of energy where she was clearly more comfortable -- and where she had her lines down. It appeared to be a non-sequitur.

Also, I can't help but feel there is another reason that McCain picked her. She is kind of a female President Bush. She called the commanding U.S. general in Afghanistan "General McClellan." a couple of times and she has her cute, country "I am just like you" terminology down pat. She sprinkles her sentences with "bless their hearts" and she likes referring to those "hockey moms." But, I truely wonder if that cutsy stuff isn't going to hurt her. All that winking at the camera. It makes her come off condescending to the opposing side and more than a little arrogant.

She is quick to attack and she did more than a few times during the debate, setting Biden up ... especially in opposition to Obama. She tried to make him look like his stand on the issues are based on his current position as VP nominee.

Unfortunately, she comes off a bit dumb sometimes and it is hard to look past that. If she didn't have the answer in her notes, she was changing the subject to an issue she could talk about. But, I truly feel she did way better than that Katie Couric interview that left everyone wondering what in the world she was talking about. Way better.

At this point, I don't know if she is helping McCain as much as some think or if she isn't actually hurting him. Time will tell. But, in my opinion, I would be more likely to vote for her running the local PTA.

Now ... for Biden. I think he did a fairly good job. He has to work harder than Palin. I really liked his answer regarding gay marriage. Obama does not support gay marriage. He does support civil unions and rights for gays and their partners.

He was right to attack McCain's stand on the issues. McCain is the one running for the top office, not Palin. I think he did a fair job on that, but he could have done better. McCain has done some serious flip-flopping on some issues. Abortion being one. He has said that if Roe vs. Wade were overturned that it would lead to women performing dangerous procedures illegally, but on his website he says ...

John McCain believes Roe v. Wade is a flawed decision that must be overturned, and as president he will nominate judges who understand that courts should not be in the business of legislating from the bench.

Which makes you wonder considering Palin's assertion that John McCain does not tell one thing to one group and another to another group. And, if Biden would have been on his toes, he would have caught that. He did catch a few of them though.

Overall, he did good. He could have done better. But, at least he did come off personable and human ... especially when talking about the death of his wife and child. I like what he said about climate change and the environment and that he was ready to tackle the topic, unlike Palin. I wish he would have noted the Biblical mandate that we have to care for our environment. That would have been a good move on his part, in my opinion.

Where's The Money?

This is not good news and if something isn't done soon ... it will get worse.

Dow slammed, posts worst-ever point decline

NEW YORK - Wall Street ended a stunning session with a huge loss Monday, with the Dow Jones industrial average plunging 778 points -- its largest point drop ever -- after the failure of a House vote on the financial bailout plan.

So ... they will try again ...

House to meet Thursday after rejecting bailout

Democratic and Republican leaders alike pledged to try again, though the Democrats said GOP lawmakers needed to provide more votes. Bush huddled with his economic advisers about a next step. The House was to reconvene on Thursday instead of adjourning for the year as planned.

It's time to stop playing the blame game and do something before we are really in a pickle. We don't want the the big wigs of Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae to make any money off of this mess they are in, but we cannot just let it all fall down beneath them either. It doesn't just affect them.

Getting Into The Spirit

This is too funny ...

The judge who presided at the "Da Vinci Code" copyright infringement trial has put a code of his own into his ruling, and he said Wednesday he would "probably" confirm it to the person who breaks it.

Since Judge Peter Smith delivered his ruling April 7 in favor of Dan Brown, the author of "The Da Vinci Code," lawyers in London and New York began noticing odd italicizations in the 71-page document.

In the weeks afterward, would-be code-breakers got to work on deciphering Smith's code.

"I can't discuss the judgment," Smith said in a brief conversation with The Associated Press, "but I don't see why a judgment should not be a matter of fun."

Jesus Walked On Ice?

| 3 Comments | No TrackBacks

It is amazing what some will claim in an attempt to discredit the miracles of Jesus Christ. But walking on a patch of ice? In a storm? For three miles or more?

The Bible says in John 6:16-24 ...

When evening came, his disciples went down to the lake, where they got into a boat and set off across the lake for Capernaum. By now it was dark, and Jesus had not yet joined them. A strong wind was blowing and the waters grew rough. When they had rowed three or three and a half miles, they saw Jesus approaching the boat, walking on the water; and they were terrified. But he said to them, "It is I; don't be afraid." Then they were willing to take him into the boat, and immediately the boat reached the shore where they were heading.

The next day the crowd that had stayed on the opposite shore of the lake realized that only one boat had been there, and that Jesus had not entered it with his disciples, but that they had gone away alone. Then some boats from Tiberias landed near the place where the people had eaten the bread after the Lord had given thanks. Once the crowd realized that neither Jesus nor his disciples were there, they got into the boats and went to Capernaum in search of Jesus.

I think the Bible makes way more sense than that scientist. Way more.

Christian May Still Face Death

While the headline today reads, Afghan Christian Convert May Be Freed, the statement I have highlighted in bold says it all ...

An Afghan man possibly facing execution for converting from Islam to Christianity is expected "to be released in the coming days," a source with detailed knowledge of the case said Friday.

Word of Abdul Rahman's release comes after days of international pressure and the day before the Afghan Cabinet was scheduled to discuss the case of the 41-year-old father of two. On Thursday, top Afghan clerics urged Muslims to kill Rahman if the government freed him. [...]

"Rejecting Islam is insulting God. We will not allow God to be humiliated. This man must die," cleric Abdul Raoulf told The Associated Press. Raoulf has long been considered a moderate and was often at odds with the Taliban, which jailed him three times before the hard-line group's ouster in 2001. (Read about clerics joining Raoulf in calling for Rahman's death)

Prayers are seriously needed at this time.

The Things People Say

| 6 Comments | 1 TrackBack

I will never understand why people feel the need ... preacher, politician, or lay person ... to put words in God's mouth:

"Surely God is mad at America. He sent us hurricane after hurricane after hurricane, and it's destroyed and put stress on this country," Nagin, who is black, said as he and other city leaders marked Martin Luther King Day.

"Surely he doesn't approve of us being in Iraq under false pretenses. But surely he is upset at black America also. We're not taking care of ourselves."

I am sure Nagin is correct. God calls on us to love our neighbors as we love ourselves and to love Him with everything we are (Luke 10:27). But, I am pretty sure there are a lot of things that God does not approve of. I know that for a fact. If God was handing out natural disasters every time we did something that He did not approve of ... there wouldn't be a planet left, let alone a human being standing on it.

Judgment will come to the earth and her inhabitants one day, until then ... strive to put sin out of your own life and follow Christ. The weather has nothing on the wrath of our Lord and we haven't seen anything yet.

Jesusland? How tacky can one get? Sheesh.

And, I don't know what is worse. Robertson tripping all over himself to take back his comments about Sharon to salvage Jesusland or the fact that he said what he said in the first place? I think it is the former.

Independent Christian Voice has posted on this as well.

Finally ...

I wonder why we haven't heard more about this ...

The American Civil Liberties Union brought the case against Mercer County, arguing the display violated the Constitution's guarantee separating church and state.

The appeals court said the ACLU was relying on a false understanding of that clause.

"This extraconstitutional construct has grown tiresome," it wrote. "The First Amendment does not demand a wall of separation between church and state. Our nation's history is replete with governmental acknowledgment and in some cases, accommodation of religion."

I have been saying that for a long time.
