Preaching Politics - The Rogue Angel

Preaching Politics

You know sometimes when I am reading through the blogs I have in Bloglines or in my Google Reader, I realize that the enemy has declared a mighty victory against us. All you have to do is read blogs by Christians that have politics as a primary focus and you soon see that he has us so busy being ugly about partisan politics that there is no way we are doing what we are actually called to do ... which is spread the Gospel.

No where in the Bible are we called to be political commentators.

You can't bring anyone to Christ spending the majority of your time talking smack about every politician who doesn't subscribe to your personal political movement of choice. I am not saying that Christians should never discuss politics or blog about it, but it should be obvious you are a follower of Christ and not your latest political crush.

You know, this is the post that I've been trying to write for about a week now.

Unless, of course, I'm one of those people about whom you're complaining, in which case let's just pretend I didn't say anything.

Since I'm still planning to post on it, I'll stop here, except to say a hearty "Amen!"

I was not talking about you! :) Actually, you are one of the few people I can read and walk away feeling that you are trying to be fair. You don't just pick on one side. You definitely don't fall into the camp that just looks for something to gripe about regarding the opposing side.

That is one thing I try to do if I am going to blog politics. I don't like some of the stuff President Obama has done, but I don't pick on everything he has done. I don't care much for Sarah Palin ... but when the media was obsessed with stupid stuff regarding her, I said so.

We have to remember that we are called to live by a higher standard and we are being watched. Unfortunately, a lot of us aren't worth watching ... let alone reading. We are failing as Christ's ambassadors in a very big way.

Amen, Angel! I am embarrassed to say that I am a conservative most days. It is also one reason why I am glad I am a true Independent. I am not beholden to any party nor am I trying to promote their candidates.

Boy...you hit the nail on the head here.
Shouldnt we just worry about being obedient, and God will take care of the rest.

Good post RA!
