I don't understand how Christians can listen to Rush Limbaugh.
And, while I thought about reading Speechless: Silencing The Christians ... I lost all interest when I found out that the foreward was written by Anne Coulter.
Birds of a feather and neither one appeal to me.

I am not a big Limbaugh or Coulter fan either. I was surprised to read that Rush is so liberal when it comes to his faith. I wonder if conservatives realize that?
I totally agree with you on Rush Limbaugh. Even back when I actually agreed with most of his political views, I found him to be way too abrasive, rude, and several other unflattering adjectives. I used to think, "You're right, but you don't have to be a jerk about it."
Granted, these days, I'm usually more inclined to think he's being a jerk and wrong, but hey. ;)
I'm afraid that a lot of Christians have so politicized faith that Republican=Christian in their minds.
Limbaugh derides Christian virtues, and his "talent on loan from God" schtick is nothing short of boastful.
I've asked many Christians, though, to explain this. I've got nothing in return. I can (more or less) understand being a Republican. But being a hateful, vulgar, profanity-spewing Republican who loves to show contempt for authority and recite potty humor? That I don't get.
Hi!
I wanted to comment on this.
Some years ago I listened to Rush Limbaugh for a while. My Mother, bless her heart, kept telling me she noticed a change in me after I started listening to him. I was quicker to anger, agitated all the time, and just generally cynical and suspicious of everything.
I agreed with her that Limbaugh had an effect on my attitude and quit listening to him. He may not effect everyone the way he effected me but I didn't like my attitude either after listening to him. My Mom was a pretty smart cookie. I miss her.
I agree with most of his political positions, but I don't listen to him for the reasons you cite.
Ann Coulter, I have read some of her stuff, but if you can get past the satire she makes some pretty good points.
Neither would I point to as a model for Christ-likeness.
I read and listen to a lot of things I don't necessarily agree with or completely disagree with. So don't take people listening or reading as condoning everything that person says or does.
For instance I watch Glenn Beck - I certainly don't agree with some of the language he uses, and I certainly don't agree with his religious views (he's Mormon). He brings up some great points.
My two cents.
B: you and me both.
Jarred: I hear ya! :)
Wickle: I agree.
Jackie: I have found that there are some bloggers that do me like that. The more I read them, the more aggitated and hateful I get. It is like their nasty attitudes start rubbing off on me.
Shane: I know that people can listen to someone and not approve of everything they say ... I just find it interesting that Christians listen to him at all. But, then ... I am not into talk radio. I don't listen to any of them ... regardless of their political views. Most of them come across like Limbaugh and Coulter ... brash, sarcastic, and just plain ugly.
