In Nepal, they have declared that a three year old little girl is their new living goddess. They say she is the incarnation of the Hindu diety Taleju and they decided this by having the child spend the night alone in a room among the heads of ritually slaughtered goats and buffaloes without showing fear.
Read that again ... the heads of ritually slaughtered goats and buffaloes without showing fear. How would they know if she was afraid if she was alone? And, who in the world would leave a three year old baby in a room with dead animal heads?
Not only did she have to go through all that, but they also removed the child from her parents. Now she lives in a temple and will remain there until she starts her period. At that time, she will no longer be a "goddess" anymore and will be returned to her family where the chance of her growing up and getting married are slim because they believe that men who marry former "goddesses" will die at a young age.
And, the horrible cycle will start over again. Once the "goddess" is removed from the temple, they will name a new baby to be their goddess, put her in a room full of dead animal heads and take her away from her family.
