Dow slammed, posts worst-ever point decline
NEW YORK - Wall Street ended a stunning session with a huge loss Monday, with the Dow Jones industrial average plunging 778 points -- its largest point drop ever -- after the failure of a House vote on the financial bailout plan.
So ... they will try again ...
House to meet Thursday after rejecting bailout
Democratic and Republican leaders alike pledged to try again, though the Democrats said GOP lawmakers needed to provide more votes. Bush huddled with his economic advisers about a next step. The House was to reconvene on Thursday instead of adjourning for the year as planned.
It's time to stop playing the blame game and do something before we are really in a pickle. We don't want the the big wigs of Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae to make any money off of this mess they are in, but we cannot just let it all fall down beneath them either. It doesn't just affect them.
