We Have Pets!!!!

| 2 Comments | No TrackBacks

The Sims 2 announces that pets will arrive in November 2006 ...

Electronic Arts today announced that the popular video game franchise, The Sims™ 2, is going to the dogs—and for that matter, to the cats, guinea pigs and birds too! The company is releasing The Sims™ 2 Pets on current generation console systems, handheld platforms and as a PC expansion pack. The Sims 2 Pets will build on the celebrated The Sims 2 experience that allows players to create and control digital characters throughout their lives while determining the outcome of their relationships and choosing their destiny. Each version will feature customized content tailored to the platform.

The addition of a new friend is guaranteed to enrich the daily lives of your Sims! Not only will players have the opportunity to choose from a variety of existing breeds, and hot designer mixes, but they’ll also be able to personally design their new friend with the Create-a-Pet feature. The ability to customize gives fans the opportunity to create their ideal pet by choosing their body shape, unique markings, even their pet’s personalities! With so many different animals to choose from, there’s no telling what unpredictable experiences could occur!

Players will also be able to teach their pet new tricks, take them for a romp in the park, outfit them with new pet accessories and even give them a job! As in real life, your Sims’ pet will require care and training. A neglected cat with an urge to scratch might claw up your new couch if you aren’t careful, and leaving your dog unattended near a freshly planted flower bed probably isn’t wise!

That sound you hear are sim fans jumping for joy! With me with them! Click here to read more.

A Present!

I woke up today in not so good of a mood. It has been a little stressful these last couple of days. I have so much to do and I can't seem to get anything done without someone coming along and messing up what I already did. But, nothing picks you up like getting a present in the mail ... and I got the best present!

I don't want to name names because I don't know if she minds me saying, but one of my favorite online buddies/commenters sent me The Way of the Master! I have so been wanting that book and when I get done with it, I will definitely do a review! :)

Family Update

| 7 Comments | No TrackBacks

My middle baby came home yesterday! Me and my Sister spent the majority of our daylight hours traveling to get her and getting her back home. I am very happy to have her home too. I wasn't exactly thrilled about her being in that place, especially since most of our conversations were over the sounds of some kid screaming at the top of his or her lungs. Which would start before we got on the phone and would end long after ... and all from their "quiet" room. I am telling you, if a child went in there with nothing wrong with them ... they wouldn't come out that way. Not with all that going on, for sure.

Anywho ... they released her AMA. Which is really funny. I got the call yesterday that since I didn't agree with them putting her on a medication that she had been on for three years with no success, that they were releasing her that day ... AMA ... and then they spent three more conversations asking me when my estimated time of arrival would be. When I would try to explain to them why I disagreed with them using that medication, it was like talking to a brick wall. I was told they were the experts and they didn't care that she had been on the medication before with no results. Then they would ask me when I was coming to get her.

So, I went and got her. They weren't even trying to treat her for the PTSD at all and their behavior was pretty unprofessional, in my opinion. I think she will be better served with our counselor at church and her counselor at the RCC. They are both excellent counselors and her counselor at the RCC is trained to treat patients with PTSD.

I would like to ask everyone to continue to pray for her though. She refuses to open up and talk about what happened to her and it is important that she does. She just keeps pushing it deep inside and it will just continue to fester there. I think her counselor over at the RCC will be able to do a lot with her, considering her training, but I still pray that God will place a healing hand on her. She really needs to understand that it doesn't matter how much man lets you down that we have a real Father, a Father who is always there, won't hurt us, and will never abandon us. Once she understands that she can lay all her burdens and pain at His feet, the better off she will truly be.

Update: My 30/30 Plan

| No Comments | No TrackBacks

Well, I implemented my 30/30 plan two weeks ago and it is going pretty well. I have slacked a little on the exercise aspect, but not when it comes to reading my Bible. I enjoy it way too much! I find that I actually read for more than the 30 minutes I have set aside for it. Sometimes, I find myself still reading hours later. I think that is partly to do with the Bible I am using. It is one used for study and I find the commentary in it fascinating and totally enlightening. I am now on Exodus and Pharoah has had just about enough of God and His plagues and is about to set God's people free.

Good stuff!

A Call To Holiness

| No Comments | No TrackBacks

I have had this in my inbox for a few weeks and decided to pass it on. It is just too good not to!

Purity--A Call to Holiness

The Book of Leviticus is an extensive guidebook showing God's people how to live daily in relationship to Him and one another. Holiness is a major theme of Leviticus and some form of the word holiness appears in the book more than 100 times. Leviticus teaches Christians to be holy, for the Lord himself is holy (Leviticus 11:44). God's people were to separate themselves from evil and impurity and live righteously and obediently. A believer must depend on God alone and the power of His Spirit to develop and maintain a life of holiness.

While some Christians desire holiness, others are less committed to the pursuit of it. In Rhonda Harrington Kelley's Bible study, A Woman's Guide to Personal Holiness, she states, "Some Christian women even dread a life of holiness, thinking it means a life of rules and regulations or boredom. Nothing could be further from the truth." A believer's life need not be filled with negative discouragements, but positive encouragements. A woman of holiness learns to find great joy and satisfaction in her personal relationship with Christ. C.S. Lewis said, "How little people know who think that holiness is dull. When one meets the real thing... it is irresistible."

To be holy is to be godly, to have a disposition, a will, a character like God. In Christ, the holiness of God appeared in a human life, in His own life here on earth. Author Andrew Murray states that the nature of light is the same whether we see it in the sun or in a candle; the nature of holiness remains unchanged whether it dwells in God or in man.

For hundreds of years, Christians have spoken of holiness, but many have not lived holy lives. Now is the time to return to the Scriptures for instruction in holiness. It is time to stop talking and begin living holy lives in an unholy world. In each generation, believers reveal the level of their commitment by the quality of their behavior.

Listed are the eight virtues found in Colossians 3:12-14 that a believer is to reflect in order to be holy. Think about each of them and what they mean to you.

Compassion, Kindness, Humility, Gentleness, Patience, Tolerance, Forgiveness, Love

I read this and immediately thought of a few people who could really use this ... including myself.

What's Blocking Your Blessing?

Today's Scripture
Let all bitterness, indignation, wrath, resentment, quarreling and slander be banished from you. (Ephesians 4:31)

Today's Word from Joel and Victoria
Did you know that unforgiveness, bitterness, and resentment block the flow of God's blessing in your life? Holding on to the hurts of your past can poison your present and future. But when you let go of these emotional wounds, you open the door to the life of victory the Lord has planned.

The enemy tries to use the events of your past to influence your present actions and responses. He tries to paralyze you with fear and shame. But when you choose to forgive those who have wronged you and release your past to your Heavenly Father's loving care, you can walk in freedom. You can trade your sorrow for His joy. You can trade your shame for His peace, love, and victory!

Isn't it reassuring that you are not defined by your past. You are defined by God's Word and His plan for your life. And God sees you as an overcomer! God sees you blessed and prosperous in all your ways! God sees you living life as a champion!

A Prayer for Today
God, I am trading my sorrows in today. I refuse to live in the past any longer! I forgive my trespassers and will hand you my ashes and accept the beauty You offer instead. I will live the life of joy You intended for me. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Jesus Freak

| 4 Comments | No TrackBacks

We got to talking at church the other night about how it is okay to be a golf freak or even a fitness freak. It is okay to be a sky diving fanatic or World War II fanatic. It is okay to live and breathe baseball, food, politics, and all manner of other subjects and hobbies. But, as soon as you say you are a Jesus Freak ... oh, well you are a fanatic in the worst possible way. Something is seriously wrong with you. You are totally screwed up.

It's a trip. :)

Carrying That Cross

| 13 Comments | No TrackBacks

I got up this morning and read an email from someone online that I respect and whose blog I really enjoy. I read it and then I read it again. I didn't have time to respond as breakfast needed to be made, but the whole time I cooked I couldn't stop thinking about that email and what it said.

You know, there are times when I just sit back and I wonder what I am doing even discussing politics in public. I don't talk politics all the time, like some, but I do cover them on occasion when the mood strikes me. It is a touchy subject, especially online and in religious circles. And, that goes for both sides.

I know that there are days that I just can't even wrap my mind around the thought processes of some people. I remember one day how I was told that I should show allegiance to George W. Bush because he was the president and God put him where he was ... because you know all government was put in place by God. I couldn't help but think, "Boy, does that mean Hitler was put in power by God too? What about Stalin?" Not that I am comparing Bush to either. I'm just saying.

Government was put in place by God and we are to pray for our leaders. No where in the Bible does it say that we are to blindly follow the government, though. We are not to commit idolatry. The government is ran by man and man is corrupt. Man sins. Man doesn't always make the right choices. Just ask any Republican who is still besmirching Bill Clinton's name. All they can do is rag on and on about his sin. Sin he asked forgiveness for. Sin he sought spiritual counseling for (because you know, Bill is a Christian too). But, goodness knows most of them think the man should have been lynched! But, let one of their own sin and they are quick to forgive ... and quick to cover it up.

Oh ... but you are supposed to support them regardless because they are Republicans. Don't even listen to all that "conservative" talk. Bill Clinton was and still is a conservative and they still went after him with both guns blazing. They still can't even give the man credit for all the good he did. No ... they say that it wasn't really him. It was the Republicans making him do them. See, Bill Clinton's sin is not that the man committed adultery (think Newt Gingrich here). Nor is his sin that he perjured himself (think all the lies that have come from the Republican side of the fence). Bill's crime was that he was a conservative and a Democrat. Don't let anyone fool you.

And, it is that kind of hypocrisy in partisan politics that turns a lot of stomachs. It makes you want to just shut up. It makes you want to just hang your hat and give up. Why argue? Especially when you are going to end up arguing with people that are more concerned with their politics than they are their souls. I mean, really. How many arguments have you come across online between Christians of different political ideals? Now, think about what they were saying to each other. Think about the name calling. Think about how hateful they came across and then tell me how "Christ-like" you found them to be.

Could you see Christ in them? Let's forget for a minute that we are told not to argue and that we are brothers and sisters in Christ ... the children of God who make up his church. Instead, let's just focus for a minute on how we are to be followers of Christ and we are to exhibit the fruits of the spirit. Now ... ask yourself this: How is that going? Are we doing as God commanded us? When others look at us--and they are looking--are they seeing Christ in us?

Or are they seeing a bunch of nitwits preening and posturing, claiming their side is right and the other is wrong? Are they seeing arrogance and pride? Are they seeing how ugly we can act? Are they seeing just how partisan we can be?

Then ask yourself what we should be doing. What would God have us do? What would God have you do? Would He have you act in such a despicable way or would He ask you why you were not doing as He commanded you? Would He have you set the example of Christ or would He have you condemn your fellow man? Even Jesus did not come to condemn the world. He came to save it and he did so by dying for our sins and giving us the greatest example anyone could ever give!

Does that mean we are to give up and just not discuss politics anymore? No. Our faith is to guide our politics ... not a political party. I can no more vote against my conscience than the next man ... but what is my conscience supposed to be telling me? Is it telling me to go with the party line or to do as Jesus would do? Would Jesus approve of gay marriage? No, he wouldn't. His Father created marriage and He said it was between one man and one woman. Would Jesus approve of abortion? No. But, He would show compassion. He would want to know why these women feel it is their only choice. He would want to help them, not condemn them. Would Jesus want the poor to have to beg at the church door with so many in the church selfishly hoarding their money and refusing to tithe, let alone help those who are in need? No. He wouldn't.

Would Jesus expect me to be silent on any of these issues or what the governing powers are doing? No. He wouldn't. But, He would expect me to behave according to His teachings and He would expect me to speak up. He would not expect me to argue and fight, but He would expect me to assert my voice. Will it always be easy? No. Not with some of the brothers and sisters I have. Some can be downright nasty. But, that doesn't mean I have to get nasty with them.

My tag-line is: Politics. Religion. Life. Carrying My Cross As I Go. It came to me one day and I took it as a heavenly inspiration. You see, carrying our crosses is not always easy. Not in life. Not in religion ... even amongst our own at times. Especially not when it comes to politics. Carrying our cross can be a heavy burden at times, but it is still what we are called to do.

So, to my friend who sent me that email this morning ... I understand. It gets hard and sometimes you just think it is not worth it. But, if you silence your voice ... who will say what it is in you to say? How many more voices will be silenced? How many more will think, "well, if he couldn't hack it then how can I?" Who will step up and spread the message that you felt compelled at one time to voice? There has to be a balance and right now ... things are so unbalanced and out of control that it is not even funny. Who can fill your shoes, should you leave them at the door, and help balance the rhetoric with love and truth?

According to VOM, China Aid has confirmed that one of the most prominent Chinese House Movement leaders has been sentenced to seven and a half years in prison. What was Pastor Zhang Rongliang crime? Ultimately ... it all boils down to his being a Christian.

Pastor Zhang has been wanted for many years since his last imprisonment in August 1999. He has already spent twelve years in prison for his faith since his secret baptism in 1969 during five separate detentions. He experienced extreme harsh torture including electric shocks during his prison terms.

Can you imagine being imprisoned for your faith? What about being tortured? It happens every day all over the world. For more information, check out The Voice of the Martyrs. You can also check out Persecution Blog for more posts on the persecuted.

Pray For My Baby

| 7 Comments | 1 TrackBack

Friday night, my middle child was hospitalized for Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder. She is only eleven years old and she just can't handle what has happened in our family. My poor baby could be there for months and I miss her so bad already. We prayed for her in church yesterday and I would like to ask for y'all to pray for her too. She is so young and having such a hard time. She loved my husband so much and she just doesn't know what to do about what he did ... or even what to do with all the emotions she has regarding it. Please pray for God to touch her and give her peace. Pray that she will overcome this and have victory over it.

Thank you.

The Life Of Teenagers by Keith G. WrightKeith G. Wright is the author of the “Ain’t No Joke” Book Series. He is on a mission to inspire teenagers and parents to lead exceptional lives. After reading his book, The Life Of Teenagers, I think he may just be on to something. Especially, when you look at some of his "teen truths" and how they can impact someone's life.

Teen Truth #257: Daily Reading is the single most important life building activity you can possibly do. Reading gives your dreams the freedom to soar through the universe.

Kevin exclaims to teenagers that it doesn't matter how tough the world is, how unforgiving, or even how messed up your own family is. He tells them that they can overcome, achieve, and do great things regardless of their circumstances. He proclaims to them that the world is theirs and that they must take responsibility for it and their futures. He even gives some great examples of people that have come far in life regardless of their circumstance.

He also gives quite a few examples that I wasn't particularly fond of. For example, he called Eminem's music "pedophile-ish." The book can be quite repetitive. Even when he speaks of Eminem, he states twice that the music is "pedophile-ish," but that he is not saying Eminem is a pedophile. Some of the same concepts are repeated as well. I know that one MTV series is mentioned numerous times with pretty much the same thing being said each time it is brought up.

The good definitely outweighs the bad, though. The book is inspirational. After I finished reading it, I handed to my pre-teen and she didn't give it back for two weeks. We had some really good conversations as a result as well. It was nice to hear her agreeing with what she read and seriously thinking about her life and future. I give The Life Of Teenagers 4 stars!

- The Life Of Teenagers "Ain't No Joke" by Keith G. Wright was reviewed by me for Active Christian Media.

I haven't much felt like blogging of late and I really need to since I have a review to do before Sunday. I have read the book and I have even started the review ... I just haven't felt like finishing it.

My 30/30 plan is going swimmingly. I am really enjoying it and I so like the "me" time it gives me as well. Well, it is not really "me" time. It is more like "me and the Lord" time. Even when I am doing the walking, I am usually talking to God. I have been focussing a lot on praying for my enemies here lately ... which is usually one of my in-laws unfortunately. But, I am going to tell you ... it makes handling them so much easier. What they say doesn't bother me. They can talk about me and lie about me all they want and it really doesn't phase me. They can blame me for everything all day long and I don't care. I highly recommend it. See Matthew 5:43-48 for more info.

Panther has healed and is doing well. I am so happy about that. Her incision is looking awesome. They eventually used steel wire and glue to hold her together and she ended up taking antibiotics for an infection, but you cannot even tell it now.

The last few weeks have been so hectic around here. We have had a house full for weeks! We have had at least two extra children per night and sometimes up to five. It has been like a mad house, for real. And, my middle baby turned 11 years old yesterday. Even though the party is not until the 21st, we had a house full and ended up cooking hot wings and potato wedges for everyone. I even took her to rent a couple of movies as well since it was raining cats and dogs outside and she couldn't go to the pool like she wanted.

Right now ... the kids are at the public pool and I am just chilling for a bit in the peace and quiet. It feels so nice. So nice, in fact, that I am going to get off here and go chill on the couch. I may even get me a wee nap in before the kiddies get home. That would be super nice.

Lata!

"I just saw www.therogueangel.com/blog/. The color scheme is without compromise. Magnificent. Another pro: blondesense.blogspot.com put up a link to this page. The URL has 34 characters. This length scores best in usability studies. What a fantastic page! The page contains 235 links, a highly usable amount. It must have taken a decade to perfect the page. Of course, I expected the creator to achieve only the best. If only Microsoft would have a splendid page like that. There are 91,622 characters in the code, which is a cool length for search engine bots. The file is very structured. Supreme. Seeing The Rogue Angel, I'm simply speechless. (...) Magic." -- Fred Hamilton, Site of the Day

I have decided that starting tomorrow I am going to implement my new 30/30 plan. I will devote thirty minutes to reading the Bible and thirty minutes exercising, six days a week. That way, I will build myself up spiritually and physically. I need both and this way I will get it.

This is definitely a win-win thing. :)

I found this over at BGEA and wanted to pass it on ...

Dare to be a Daniel is a new training program from the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association (BGEA) to help equip boys and girls to share their faith in Jesus with others. Through a printed booklet, a CD-ROM, a fun, interactive website--www.daretobeadaniel.com--and other tools, they are given simple steps they can use when telling others about Christ.

Here are some ways you can be involved:

  • Enroll. Are there youth in your life--children, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, or family friends--who could be raised up as the next generation of evangelists to be used by God in reaching others with His love? Contact BGEA today, and we will send you this evangelism starter kit free.
  • Pray. Please lift up our nation’s youth and ask God to raise up a new generation of evangelists to boldly proclaim His Gospel.
  • Give. If you would like to help us train young believers to stand for Christ, a gift of $15 can help provide the tools for one child. Donate securely online now!

Make sure you check out the site. It is totally awesome. This is one site that your kids can visit on the internet safely and it will give them valuable tools to share their faith.

Happy 4th Of July

Happy 4th Of July

God Bless America
God bless America
Land that I love,
Stand beside her and guide her
Through the night with a light from above.
From the mountains, to the prairies,
To the oceans white with foam.
God bless America,
My home sweet home.

We all do it at times. We get to thinking that we are da bomb. We go to church. We are striving to live holy lives. God is blessing us daily. Things are just great. We are dressing good, feeling good, and doing good. And, we know it. Our poo does not stink and we can do no wrong.

At that point, we become a danger to ourselves in more ways than one. Not only have we become the kind of people no one really wants to be around, it also becomes quite difficult for anyone to see Christ in us. How can we bring anyone to faith if we are a bunch of stuck ups who think that we are better than everyone else? We can't. Not unless we are attracting people that think that being a Christian means that God is going to bless us for being stuck on ourselves and we know that is not what being a Christian is about. Far from it.

Romans 12:3 tells us ...

For by the grace given me I say to every one of you: Do not think of yourself more highly than you ought, but rather think of yourself with sober judgment, in accordance with the measure of faith God has given you.

Goodness knows, that includes our children too. Have you ever met someone that thinks so highly of themselves and their children that they cannot face it when their child does something wrong? They get defensive and will even go so far as to accuse you of lying on their little darling? Or they will make excuses? There is no way their little precious could have done anything wrong. No way, Jose!

You know, I have found three surefire ways to keep yourself from thinking too highly of yourself or even your husband and children ...

  1. Remember that but for the grace of God do you walk in the shoes of someone else. Before you get to thinking that you are better than anyone else, remember that it could be you in their shoes. It wouldn't take much to put you there. Really.
  2. Love your children. If you love your child, you will discipline your child and you can't do that if you are busy making excuses for their behavior or deceiving yourself about what they will and will not do. Of course, if you care nothing for your child, you won't care what kind of person they will become. If you don't love them, you will not care if they become arrogant, proud, or deceitful. You won't care if they become a thief, racist, or a bully.
  3. The best reason of all ... we are to identify with Christ. We are to be holy because God is holy (1 Peter 1:16) and without holiness no one will see the Lord (Hebrews 12:14). And, if you are striving to live a holy lifestyle, it is hard to get stuck on yourself and think you are all that. It gets really hard to ignore the bad things that your children do. You know you have to discipline them. You know you have to face what they do, just like you have to face what you do ... and you have to correct them just like you have to correct yourself.

So when you see that homeless man sitting on the corner begging for food ... remember that man could be you. When your neighbor tells you that your child smacked their child silly ... don't make excuses or discount what they are telling you. Love your child and discipline them so that they will know you love them and expect them to live as Christ has called us to. Always remember to ask yourself what would God want for you to do or how would God want you to act. It is a process and we all are in it. We just have to keep reading our Bibles and finding our way.

I have started this post a million times and deleted it every time. You have no clue how hard it is for me to write about this. I am not sure how much I actually want to say, but I know I need to talk about it. I also know that hiding it tends to just make it that much harder to handle. And, goodness knows, we have enough on our plates without making anything harder than it is. We also don't have anything to hide. We didn't do anything wrong as much as some people would like to pretend we have. And, maybe, just maybe, I will be able to piece through all this a bit and find my way.

So here goes ...
